John Ropes is the founder and
president of Ropes Associates, Inc., an executive search and
management consulting firm. He is recognized as America’s
foremost expert in organizational structuring, and in the
recruitment and selection of senior management for real estate
developers. Established in 1975, the firm is headquartered in
Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Ropes Associates has conducted assignments worldwide.
Clients have included companies such as Arvida, Sunrise
Colony, Kapalua, Disney Development, Kiawah, Cordillera, and
Kajima Development. In the public sector, Ropes Associates has
conducted search assignments for the president of the Broward
Industrial Board, Port Director of Port Everglades, town
manager in Palm Beach, and president of The Urban Land
Institute.
In addition, John was a co-founder and principal of The
Recreational Development Team, Inc. Comprised of the finest
group of independent recreational and resort developers in the
United States, this company provided development advisory
services for recreational/resort projects outside the United
States.
Dedicated to the industry he represents, John Ropes is a
member of The Urban Land Institute (ULI), and serves as
Chairman of the Recreational Development Council (Gold). He
was also a member of ULI’s Executive Committee for Membership,
the Membership Committee, the Program Committee, International
Committee and District Council Committee. In addition, he was
Chairman of the ULI Southeast Florida/Caribbean District
Council and served as chairman of three conferences on
Caribbean Real Estate Opportunities held in Miami in 1993, and
in Puerto Rico in 1994 and 1995. He served as co-Chairman of
the Local Arrangements Committee for the ULI Spring 2000
meeting in Miami. John was also a member of the National
Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP), and is a
member of the Association of Executive Search Consultants,
where he served on the Board of Directors.
John Ropes earned his MBA at the University of Miami and
his BA at the University of Florida.
A regular speaker at local and national ULI meetings, John
was also featured speaker at an INTA Resort Conference in
Nice, France and a Golf Development Conference in Geneva,
Switzerland. He is also the publisher of the 1991 and 1993
“Community Developers Compensation Survey”.
As an owner/developer of two historic office buildings in
Downtown Fort Lauderdale, John has been active in area
organizations. He was a member of the City of Fort Lauderdale
Riverwalk GOB subcommittee, the Broward Council of 100, and
served on the Board of Directors for the Twig House. |
