This year’s program
will focus on how architects and design
professionals are responding to new trends relating
to major market segments, especially those trends
that profile the various home buyers, locally and
nationally. The use of mixed use, downtown
redevelopment and density are key components. With
the present scarcity of vacant land in most urban
areas, builders and architects have become more
creative with housing solutions that recognize the
different lifestyles of their buyers.
We have defined those
market segments as:
·
Generation “Y”
– Ages 25 to 35
·
Generation “X”
and the Echo Boomers – Ages 35 to 50
·
Baby Boomers
– Ages 50 to 65
Nationally renowned
architect Barry Berkus will keynote the conference.
Mr. Berkus, head of B3 Architects/Berkus Design
Studio, has received more than 300 design and
planning awards and has been selected by
Residential Architect as “one of the 10 most
significant figures of 20th Century
residential architecture.”
The conference this
year will ask prominent design professionals to
identify new trends and to share their strategies
for priorities in the dominant market segments.
Moderators from local firms will outline the
dominant trends for each group, with panels of
architects responding with illustrations of their
solutions.
This new format,
along with its dynamic speakers, promises to be one
of the most exciting and informative design trends
conferences yet. |
