Affordable
(attainable) and workforce housing issues are the
number one challenge facing our communities today.
The needs have been well-defined throughout
Southeast Florida. As local governments articulate
public policy initiatives aimed at insuring a mix of
housing price ranges, this program will focus on
designing and building the product. Hear from
leading designers, architects, developers and others
creating housing for our workforce. ULI Senior
Resident Fellow and ULI/Terwilliger Chair for
Housing John McIlwain will keynote the program with
a national perspective on the issue. |

Mr. McIlwain,
a passionate advocate for mixed-use, mixed
income and well-designed density within our
cities, will address what he sees as the
direction communities must take to assure
that moderate and middle-income families,
who have seen their incomes plateau while
housing costs skyrocket, remain a vital part
of urban communities. Why is workforce
housing central to keeping communities
competitive and sustainable, and what must
be done to achieve this goal?
