Since its inception in 2006, Lotus House Shelter has assisted more than 2,000 homeless women and children. With its expansion into Lotus Village, the organization has created a space that fosters the dynamic use of specialized services while building community and improving its ability to serve.
The five story complex features 140 living units plus courtyards, fountains, community rooms, training centers, wellness centers, a playground, computer library, exercise and meditation room, art and activities lab, and dining pavilion. The village also features a vegetable garden, teaching kitchen, beauty salon, and a neighborhood health clinic with women’s wellness and pediatric services. The facility also boasts museum quality art and a rich network of service providers and resources within the larger community. With the ability to support 500 people, Lotus Village is the largest in the nation exclusively serving women and children, and serves as a model for comprehensive living and empowerment centers worldwide.
