The 2011 Vision Awards recognized Armando Codina for Lifetime Achievement, Tony Cho as Young Leader of the Year, and 1111 Lincoln and Met 2, Miami as the 2012 Projects of the Year
2011 Lifetime Achievement Award – Armando Codina
Chairman & CEO of boutique real estate development and investment firm Codina Partners, Mr. Codina was selected for this prestigious award in recognition of his more than 40 years of exceptional leadership in South Florida’s development and community-building arenas. In announcing the award, District Council Chair Eric D. Swanson stated that Mr. Codina “represents the ‘Gold Standard’ among those who combine savvy business insight with a true love and stewardship of their community.”
2011 Young Leader of the Year – Tony Cho
Tony Cho, president and founder of commercial brokerage Metro 1 Properties, who has focused a lot of his energy and vision on Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood, was recognized as ULI Southeast Florida/Caribbean’s 2011 Young Leader of the Year. “Mr. Chos’s passion and dedication to the emerging redevelopment of the Wynwood district of Miami is second to none,” wrote ULI Southeast Florida/Caribbean Chair Eric Swanson.
1111 Lincoln Road, 2012 Project of the Year
1111 Lincoln Road, located in Miami Beach is a mixed-use parking garage designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron. The facility brings together office, retail and parking all under one truly spectacular roof, and includes a raw functional 25,000 square-foot event space on the seventh floor that can accommodate up to 700 guests, offering breathtaking views in every direction.
Met 2, Miami, 2012 Project of the Year
Met 2 was the second phase of the Metropolitan Miami project completed. It contains the Wells Fargo office tower and the luxury hotels, JW Marriott Marquis Miami and Hotel Beaux Arts Miami. The JW Marriott Marquis Miami contains 313 guest rooms; 80,000 square feet of meeting space; a state-of-the-art entertainment complex with an NBA-approved basketball court and virtual bowling alley. Inside the same skyscraper, Hotel Beaux Arts is a private, urban retreat providing guests with services such as private check-in and personal escort to one of the 44 ultra contemporary and lavishly appointed guest rooms. Each room boasts Bang & Olufsen home theatre systems in the rooms. Met 2 also contains the 47-story Wells Fargo office tower. This Class A office tower contains over 750,000 square feet of space and 10,000 square feet of retail space. The parking garage that services both the hotel tower and the Wells Fargo office tower contains over 1400 parking spaces. The tower was built LEED gold certified.
The Met 2 Financial Center, (officially the Wells Fargo Center) is part of the Metropolitan Miami complex of four skyscrapers in the central business district of Downtown Miami. It was completed in early 2010 and is actually two buildings, built adjacent to each other. Both completed in 2010, the Met 2 Financial Center is a 46-story, 647-foot (197 m) commercial office building, and Met 2 Marriott Marquis is a 31-story, 367-foot (112 m) building containing a Marriott Marquis Hotel.
