ULI is proud to honor Bernardo Fort-Brescia and Laurinda Spear, the founding principals of the global architecture firm Arquitectonica.

2017 Lifetime Achievement: Bernardo Fort-Brescia and Laurinda Spear
Today their practice spans the globe, with over 900 architects with projects in over 60 countries around the world. The firm is known as one of the pioneers of globalization in the architecture profession. Over the years, Arquitectonica has received hundreds of design awards, and the firm’s groundbreaking work has been the subject of exhibitions at numerous museums and institutions.
Bernardo and Laurinda’s designs implanted a new vision of modern Miami and have carried the banner of Miami architecture around the world with skyscrapers, opera houses, resorts and new cities.
2017 Young Leader of the Year: Jeremy Bedzow
ULI’s 2017 Young Leader of the Year is Jeremy Bedzow, Co-Founder and Managing Principal of Ceiba Groupe.
Since the completion of his first project in 2012, a luxury condominium in Fort Lauderdale Beach, Jeremy has been identifying and creating successful development opportunities in today’s ultra-competitive marketplace. He has brought together an impressive team of charismatic and influential young leaders who are setting new standards across the industry.
Jeremy’s projects range from mixed-use developments to luxury townhomes – all created with a level of quality and design that have the power to transform communities.
2017 Project of the Year: Brickell City Centre
Brickell City Centre is a 4.9 million square foot mixed-use complex spanning 3 blocks in the heart of Miami’s Brickell Financial District. The LEED Gold-certified development includes 3 stories of retail, two office buildings, two residential towers, and a luxury lifestyle hotel.
The impressive city-within-a-city project has had a transformative impact on Miami’s financial heart, improving access and mobility, breathing new life into the neighborhood, and changing it into a true live, work, and play destination.
In addition to Swire Properties, the Brickell City Centre team included: Arquitectonica, Kimley-Horn & Associates, Arquitectonica GEO, Hugh Dutton & Associates, Gartner, and a joint venture between Americaribe, Inc. and John Moriarty & Associates.
