So You’ve Joined ULI… Now What?

Step 1. Get connected. The best way to do this is to participate in activities and events hosted at your local District Council. Typically, ULI Southeast Florida/Caribbean hosts three large downtown programs each year, in addition to our annual industry awards event and smaller trending-topic events that occur throughout the year and provide a great opportunity to network with your peers. Networking events, project tours, and speed mentoring events hosted by our Young Leaders and Women’s Leadership Initiative groups are open to all, and occur regularly throughout the district.

Step 2. Get involved. If you have unique interests, we invite you to take the next step and get involved. We have opportunities for our members to join special interest roundtables, statewide product councils, and educational programs, as well as opportunities to get involved directly with ULI planning program and event planning committees, as well as ways to participate on the national ULI stage. Already connected with ULI in other districts or through other efforts? Feel free to reach out to us and help us understand who you are and how you want to be involved locally.

Step 3. Get invested. ULI, like any member organization, is simply better when people are invested in what we are doing. This means that members are supporting our events, inviting friends, and contributing both through attendance and sponsorship. With more funding, ULI Southeast Florida/Caribbean is able to offer more programs, more opportunities, and more investment into our own community. Step 4. Get moving. Those that get the most out of ULI really understand our organization. Participating in a Florida Summit or Fall Meeting will take you to the next level of ULI and really help you to see the big picture.

Get involved with a committee or initiative that helps grow our community. If you enjoy working on strengthening your District Council, we welcome your talents on such committees as Business Development or Marketing and Communications. Or, help us strengthen our committees with issue-oriented work on housing affordability, mobility, or resiliency.

• Join a Committee

• Volunteer to advise on land use issues through a 2-3 day Technical Assistance Panel (TAP)
• Lead a workshop or lesson for a small group of members

• Submit a proposal for a Leadership Project (pro-bono TAPs for nonprofit entities)
