The Leadership Institute is an immersive and engaging leadership program that educates emerging leaders and prepares them with the tools to solve South Florida’s most critical real estate and land use issues.

The 2025 Leadership Institute cohort includes thirty-five land use and real estate professionals from throughout Southeast Florida, including developers, designers, attorneys, engineers, bankers, planners, brokers and other real estate professionals from both the private and public sectors.

PROGRAM DATES FOR THE 2025 CLASS:

January 2025 – August 2025

The Leadership Institute cultivates leadership and life-strategy skills by teaching emerging leaders in real estate and land use industries how the Southeast Florida/Caribbean region gets built.

WHO PARTICIPATES:

Individuals working in the real estate industry and related fields;
Mid-career leaders slated for future leadership roles;
Those who have a minimum of seven years of real estate experience;
Those committed to community service and civic engagement;
Those who have a vision for the future of Southeast Florida; and
The program is open to ULI members and non-members alike.

WHY PARTICIPATE:

Collaborate with real estate professionals in problem-solving;
Interface with like-minded professionals;
Engage with top speakers from every facet of land use in a small group environment;
Establish relationships with a diverse group of professionals; and
Expand your perspectives on the development process as well as issues and opportunities facing the Southeast Florida/Caribbean region.

HOW IT WORKS:

Organized around eight full-day seminars, the Leadership Institute program consists of:

Panel Discussions
Property Tours
Leadership Training
Networking
Small Group Activities
Other Activities which provide participants access to industry leaders, elected officials, and recognized experts in real estate and land use.

PROVIDING LEADERSHIP ON CRITICAL ISSUES:

The culminating exercise for the Leadership Institute will be a series of Leadership Projects (LPs), where teams of Leadership Institute participants work over a seven-month period to address a particular local land use or policy challenge. Teams are responsible for providing expertise and developing recommendations on how communities can achieve local planning goals while also making the greatest regional contribution toward sustainable and equitable development.
