Miami Beach Convention Center
2023 Project of the Year
The extensive $640 million renovation and expansion of the Miami Beach Convention Center has transformed the formerly disconnected, dated facility surrounded by parking lots into a lush 25-acre site and 1.4 million sq. foot building that celebrates its position as the civic and cultural heart of Miami Beach. The LEED-silver project has transformed the center’s linkage with its surroundings, creating over 12 acres of new greenspaces that are interwoven into the fabric of its adjacent historic neighborhoods and public buildings. The project also incorporated crucial resiliency features, renovated the 100-year-old historic Carl Fisher Clubhouse, revitalized the Collins Canal pedestrian walkway, and introduced over $7 million of contemporary art to the public.
Project Team: City of Miami Beach, Fentress Architects, Arquitectonica, West 8, Wallace Engineering, ME Engineers, Kimley-Horn, Clark Construction, Hill International.
